The benefits of kickboxing are endless. Kickboxing is a combat (or fighting) sport that is performed standing up. This form of martial arts originates from karate, also picking up influences from Muay Thai and boxing.

Kickboxing is not just an incredibly rewarding martial art to practice, it is also a form of exercise that is sure to push you out of your comfort zone. Whether you dream of becoming the next WKA champion, want to find an alternative to your gym membership or are looking for a new method of self-defense, we have the perfect class for you.

Endurance

No matter what martial art you’re practicing, endurance is a necessity. Here at The Kickboxing Academy Harker Heights, we understand that to win a match, you need a high level of skill AND conditioning. Regularly training in kickboxing provides you with a level of cardio that is sure to protect you from losing strength during a match and not being able to execute those techniques you’ve spent countless hours mastering. Our kickboxing classes will keep you on your toes – covering a wide variety of exercises such as interval training, jump roping, core strength drills, and both aerobic and anaerobic conditioning.

Physical Strength

Kickboxing is known for its ability to tone and build strength in nearly every part of your body. It engages your arms, legs, abs, shoulders, and glutes all at once! Kickboxing puts serious stress on all these muscle areas, building strength quickly. Additionally, thanks to its heavy use of cardio, Kickboxing burns tons of calories and aids in major weight loss (but not muscle mass loss of course)! All around, Kickboxing is perfect for strengthening and vitalizing the entire body. You’ll find yourself feeling and looking stronger, healthier, and happier. These benefits will carry over into all other areas of your athletic training, work performance, and personal life.

MAINTAIN FLEXIBILITY AND STRENGTH AS YOU AGE

As people age, they tend to lose flexibility in their joints and may find that they lose strength as well. Experiencing a physical decline can limit your ability to do the things you love.

People who practice Muay Thai reinforce their body’s strength and flexibility with each workout. By emphasizing core strength and overall fitness, Muay Thai can help you combat the aging process.

Just as importantly, Muay Thai people of all fitness levels and ages can benefit from Muay Thai.

MUAY THAI BANISHES STRESS AND ANXIETY

Stress is a part of modern life. It can have a negative impact on your physical, emotional, and mental health if you don’t find ways to minimize it.

Working out regularly releases feel-good hormones called endorphins. Muay Thai workouts will help you maintain the proper hormonal balance so you can cope with stress as it arises.

At the same time, Muay Thai can also make you feel better about yourself and your body, which contributes to good mental health and makes it less likely that stress will affect you.

Mental Strength

When we’re talking about fitness, strength, and self-defense, we can’t forget to talk about mental sharpness. And lucky for you, Kickboxing is just as good for the brain as it is for the body! Kickboxing places a unique emphasis on meditation and focus, pushing students to be aware of their surroundings and teaching them to concentrate on the most important aspects of an altercation even in a heated or stressful moment.

Self-Defense

Although Kickboxing isn’t a ground fighting style, it provides students with many lessons that prepare them for potential attacks or altercations. To begin with, Kickboxing allows its practitioners to use their hands, feet, and knees for various punches and kicks. This provides students with the tools needed to defend themselves from an attacker with a swift punch or a powerful kick. Not to mention, Kickboxing emphasizes awareness, mental sharpness, overall body strength, muscle memory, and the proper timing of a kick or strike. Furthermore, Kickboxing imparts important techniques and helps individuals react quickly and effectively.

Burns Calories

Did you know that after just an hour spent in a cardio kickboxing class, you’re burning about 450 calories? Cardio kickboxing is ideal for bolstering your metabolism and keeping your body lean and fit. If you’re hoping to shed a few pounds or maintain that ideal weight you finally reached, cardio kickboxing should be your workout of choice.

So, what’s the secret? Cardio kickboxing often causes a calorie deficit, meaning that you’re burning more calories than you’ve consumed. This is the key to losing unhealthy fat, keeping your body in tip-top shape, and protecting you from sickness and disease.

Improves Energy Levels

While many forms of exercise leave their practitioners feeling drained, cardio kickboxing is known for doing the exact opposite. By improving oxygen circulation and blood flow, cardio kickboxing will help your energy levels soar. You’ll soon find yourself feeling more energized throughout the day as you work, run errands, and do chores.
